Francesco Graziotti, PhD

Francesco Graziotti is an assistant professor in Structural Engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture of University of Pavia (Italy).

As research associate for Sismica360, he is involved in advising and reviewing on advanced analysis of structures and non-structural components, prioritization procedures for seismic upgrading of existing building stocks and retrofit interventions.

He obtained a Master of Science in Structural Engineering at the University of California in San Diego and a Ph.D. in Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology at the ROSE School of IUSS Pavia.

Since 2010, the year when his Ph.D. began, his research has focused mainly on the interpretation of the seismic behaviour of masonry structures. He has been actively involved in the execution of many laboratory tests (both static and dynamic) and in the consequent development of numerical models for the interpretation of the seismic behaviour of structures.

He is currently collaborating with the EUCENTRE Foundation as coordinator of all the tests on URM structures (more that 7 full-scale buildings tested) for the assessment of the vulnerability of existing buildings in the Groningen region (The Netherlands) subjected to seismic risk induced by natural gas extraction (Graziotti et al., 2018).
