Luca Mazzella

Luca Mazzella is graduated in Civil Engineering at the University of Pavia in 2018.

He collaborated with the EUCENTRE Foundation of Pavia on the construction of two URM (unreinforced masonry) specimens and on the shaking-table tests. One of those specimens was built with a Retrofit technique: it consists of the application through mechanical connectors of timber frames and Oriented Strand Board (OSB) panels to Unreinforced Masonry (URM) structural walls, and of timber floor stiffening with OSB boards. It aims at increasing the seismic capacity and, possibly, at reducing the damage vulnerability of the specimen. He also has been involved in the characterization tests concerning these experimental campaigns.

He currently collaborates with Sismica360 on the seismic assessment of unreinforced masonry building (URM) located in the Groningen region in The Netherlands as part of a project aimed at managing the seismic risk due to extraction of gas from onshore fields.
